Primavera Awarded $19.9M EPA Grant to Increase Community Resilience in the Face of Climate Change |
Primavera Foundation has been awarded a $19.9M grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Environmental and Climate Justice Block Grant Program for projects that will increase community resilience in the face of climate change. The project will benefit disadvantaged communities in Tucson and South Tucson, which face inequitable challenges related to climate change. “We are honored to bring additional resources into Tucson and South Tucson to increase community resilience in the face of climate change," said Primavera CEO Tisha Tallman. "The resources will directly benefit disadvantaged and marginalized communities who are adversely and disproportionately impacted by climate change.
"Along with our partnership sub-award recipients, including our statutory partner, the City of Tucson, we look forward to being a part of paving the way forward for a resilient Tucson and beyond,” Tallman said. “We thank Congressman Raul Grijalva for his tireless advocacy and efforts to ensure all are considered and accounted for during these challenging climate times.”
The grant will enable the Primavera Foundation and partners, including the City of Tucson, to install rainwater harvesting systems, provide energy assessments and retrofits for energy efficiency to low-income households, and promote climate resilience and community health through education and outreach, remediating and mitigating sources of pollution in low-income neighborhoods. Tucson Mayor Regina Romero said the funds will allow the city to implement transformative solutions, particularly for communities disproportionately affected by climate change. "Together, with trusted partners like the Primavera Foundation, we are ensuring a safe, more resilient future for Tucsonans," she said. "I extend my gratitude to the Biden-Harris Administration and our Congressional Delegation for this critical funding.” South Tucson Mayor Roxanna Valenzuela said the EPA grant will help reduce energy costs for South Tucson's most financially-strapped families, making the community more environmentally-friendly.

The event, which featured over 400 participants across the 5.6-mile race, 10.6-mile race and 5K, served as a fundraiser for Primavera's Project Action for Veterans program, raising over $2,300 in donations and a matching grant from race organizers! |

| Vantage West Credit Union has awarded $40,000 to the Primavera Foundation through the Empowering Black Homeownership Matching Grant Program facilitated by the FHLBank San Francisco.
The Empowering Black Homeownership matching grant program is designed to address historical and systemic barriers that have disproportionately hindered generations of Black households from attaining homeownership. |

The program leverages financial institution donations to deliver grants, enhancing the operational capacity of organizations like Primavera. Vantage West Credit Union Program Manager Jaime Hinojos said organizations like Primavera help increase Black homeownership and bridge the racial wealth gap.
"This program is closely aligned with one of Primavera Foundation's primary missions: to empowered the local community to achieve homeownership," said Primavera CEO Tisha Tallman. "This grant, through Vantage West Credit Union, will help us achieve our goals to increase homeownership to and address inequities in homeownership and generational wealth building." |

HOPE in the Park Brings Community Resources Together for Unsheltered Individuals and Families |

Primavera was proud to attend HOPE in the Park at Rudy Garcia Park last month, offering essential services and support to our community! This day-long resource fair helped individuals obtain services in health screening, behavioral health, VA benefits, food, shelter/housing, legal assistance, clothing, haircuts, animal care, and more.
The event was sponsored by Tucson Homeless Connect and the City of Tucson's Multi-Disciplinary Outreach Team, a program of Housing and Community Development, and the Parks and Recreation Department. |

Mobile Showers Offer Participants a Fresh Start |

Primavera Foundation has purchased a mobile shower trailer that will be available to participants at various locations including the Resource Center, 702 S. Sixth Avenue, as well as the Casa Paloma women's shelter and drop-in center. |
Primavera's Inaugural Golf Outing a 'Hole in One' |
Primavera's Inaugural Invitational Golf Tournament was held at the Omni Tucson National Resort's Sonoran Course on Sept. 15. The 18-hole tournament featured 60 golfers competing for three top spots and the tournament champion.
"We are thrilled with the turnout at our Inaugural Invitational Golf Tournament," said Primavera CEO Tisha Tallman. "Funds from this event will benefit women's emergency housing as we work to meet the needs of one of our most vulnerable populations.
