Primavera FY 2022 – 2023 Impact Report Released

The Primavera FY 2022-2023 Impact Report has just been released! Please see below a word from the CEO, Tisha Tallman, and Board President, Samuel T. Swift.

Celebrating 40 years of service in and with community, this past year has been a year of change. The changes, including improvements in information services and operation management, have resulted in Primavera Foundation being able to usher in a new era of sustainable growth.

As such, we are positioned to meet the challenge before us, which is greater than previous years. Specifically, between 2018-2023 there was an overall increase in homelessness by 60%, a 200% increase in chronic homelessness, and a 300% increase in unsheltered homelessness.

In addition, there is a large gap between the cost of rent, the cost of the median-priced home and the average Tucsonan income. While the average median income for an individual Tucsonan is $26,000, the average median income needed to purchase a median-priced home is $101,000. Further, the largest units of rental housing require between $1,000-$1,399/month in rent.

As a result, in 2024, we look forward to constructing an on-site family shelter (a change from our current scattered site model in the Family Pathways Program) with a one-time $5 million grant from the Bezos Day 1 Family Fund. We are raising funds to construct additional emergency and transitional housing beds for women, and we will “meet people where they are” with a mobile outreach unit in hopes of reaching our most marginalized community members.

Together, we can move the needle on reducing poverty and homelessness. Thank you for your continued gift of time, talent and treasure.
