Primavera Foundation Mail Program Serves an Essential Community Need

702 S. 6th Ave may be the most popular mailing address in the City of Tucson. Crates of mail are delivered to the address each day. Primavera staff and volunteers receive, sort and distribute items to community members.

Those without stable housing lack the ability to receive mail services and the mail program at the Resource Center fills this basic need. More than 3,000 people used the mail service between 2020 and 2022.

“It’s a lifeline,” said Kristina Abril, Primavera’s Evaluations and Operations Administrator. “People receive packages from their families, important legal documents and other critical resources through the mail.” Kristina is part of the team of staff and volunteers who make the mail service possible. Primavera’s mail service is an important part of its strategy to address the root causes of homelessness.

“We wouldn’t know what to do without it,” said Jaisen Jacome.

Jaisen Jacome and Cassie Turner receive mail through Primavera Foundations mail service.

Jaisen and his partner Cassie applied for Section 3 housing assistance. They used Primavera Foundation’s mail service to receive the necessary documentation for their application, including their birth certificates, social security cards, and driver’s licenses.

They expect to be placed into permanent housing next month.

“It would have been a lot harder without this service,” Jaison said. “We would have done it, but Primavera has always been there.”
