Participants Take Part in Poetry and Art Workshop

Primavera partnered with the Splinter Collective to provide 12 weeks of weekly, drop-in art, poetry and movement workshops for participants at Casa Paloma this fall. The workshops took place most Thursday afternoons at Casa Paloma, starting in September and wrapping up in December. Later this month, the experience will culminate with end of session ‘showcase’ at Splinter Collective for those who want to participate. Participants are also encouraged to join activities and events such as movement, dance and self-defense classes, open mics, and poetry/music nights at the Splinter Collective.

Throughout the course of the season, it is estimated that a total of 20-25 participants attended the different workshops, with all four attendees at the final workshop saying they would come again and recommend it to a friend. For future 12-week sessions, including one to come this Spring, the team at Splinter Collective is looking to incorporate activities like herbal salve making, jewelry, sewing, t-shirt alterations and more.

As part of the final poetry workshop of this session, the participants wrote poems to be shared. To read these poems, please click the “Read More” button below.
