Emergency Services are often the "point of entry" into Primavera where individuals or families who have lost their homes can begin to get basic services, support and hope. These programs are there for people who live on the streets and sustain those who are unable to or are just beginning to make the transition from homelessness. Relief & ReferralRelief and Referral is a storefront outreach center for homeless individuals and families. Services include a mailing address, mail and message pick-up, telephone, bathroom, and the distribution of donated toiletries, blankets, house wares and emergency food. A case manager assists people in crisis, makes referrals to needed services, and helps people apply for entitlement programs. Prevention and InterventionPrimavera provides walk-in services for people who are homeless or are facing eviction. Such needed help includes case management, rental, mortgage and move-in assistance, referrals to emergency and transitional services and help with basic needs, such as food, clothing and transportation. City Crisis ResponseThe City of Tucson notifies Primavera of homeless campsites that have or are going to be cleared out. Primavera responds by providing emergency services to those displaced. Mobile OutreachThe mobile outreach unit visits different sites in the community informing people in crisis about services that are available to them. Motel Emergency Shelter SitesEmergency shelter in motel rooms is provided at scattered sites throughout Tucson. Homeless families, individuals or couples are eligible. Households without dependents can stay for up to 30 days; those with dependents can stay up to 90 days. Men's ShelterThe Men's Shelter is a 100-bed facility for men that provides meals, laundry, shower facilities, and a clean, sober setting. Every new guest meets with a manager to determine what assistance is appropriate for their individual needs. Referrals are made for physical or mental health issues and substance abuse problems. Work-ready men are referred to Primavera WORKS and can be extended at the shelter for up to 90 days in order to save money to meet future goals. Casa Paloma Women's ProgramCasa Paloma helps unaccompanied homeless women. The program includes a drop-in center for women only and transitional housing for up to nine women. This is a flexible program designed to address the needs of special populations, such as older women, those not immediately employable, and others who might fall between the cracks of existing programs. Services include case management, referrals, showers and clothing. Greyhound Family ShelterThe Greyhound Family shelter has 17 units available for 90 days, serving families who have become homeless. Through case management, the Greyhound Shelter staff directs families to services that may help, such as food stamps and childcare assistance so the parent or parents can seek employment, when needed. |
